Comment on Two Immutable Things by Lewis Palmer Jr.

I'm revisiting the two immutable things. Yes we should put emphasis on the offer of consolation, at the same time why even make mention of them?

Possibilities for the mention:
1. To throw people off. That is not uncommon with God to get those that already do not care to start rabbit trailing. We see that reasoning in the gospels where it concerns parables.
2. Poetic type language. It is there only to add emphasis to the point about consolation. This option however is not supported anywhere in Hebrews, and, if you will, is not the style of Paul (which is Hebrew's author).
3. God wants us to know something about oaths. Specifically those that he made to Abraham. This oath, theses two things make it impossible for God to lie. In other words the oath is what gives us consolation. It makes it where God is bound not to take back the promise. Which thing (that which binds God) we can have hope in.

I'll continue to look for the oath. Hopefully it's recorded.
